Brian Scott Finishes 13th at Charlotte Motor Speedway

Brian Scott and the No. 2 Shore Lodge Chevrolet team qualified for the NASCAR XFINITY Series Drive for the Cure 300 presented by Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina at Charlotte Motor Speedway in the sixth position. Early on, Scott reported his Chevrolet Camaro had tight-handling conditions into the turns and lacking rear grip on exit. The Mike Hillman, Jr.-led team took advantage of pit stops on laps 50, 101 and 143 to make the correct chassis adjustments to help the handling. The adjustment on the lap 143 stop left the Boise, Idaho native battling tighter-handling conditions dropping him back to the 13th position. Scott would maintain a position inside the top-10 for the majority of the race, but ultimately finished the 200-lap event in the 13th spot.

Brian Scott Quote:

"My guys on the No. 2 Shore Lodge Chevrolet team worked their tails off this weekend. I wish we had a better result to show for it."

Ty Dillon Records Sixth-Place Finish at Charlotte Motor Speedway

Ty Dillon drove Richard Childress Racing’s No. 3 WESCO Chevrolet Camaro to a sixth-place finish Friday evening at Charlotte Motor Speedway, recording the team’s 21st top-10 finish of the season. Dillon, who qualified eighth earlier in the afternoon, raced inside the top 10 for the entire 200-lap event. He reported a tight handling race car in the early part of the race, which crew chief Nick Harrison adjusted during the first pit stop on lap 50. A long green-flag stretch from lap 53 to lap 141 allowed Dillon to maintain his position as he reported a neutral balance to his Chevrolet Camaro. On lap 152, Dillon moved up to fifth place and in the closing laps maintained his positioning once again. In the end, Dillon crossed the finish line sixth, Dillon remains fourth in the XFINITY Series driver point standings.

TY DILLON QUOTE:

"We were fast tonight and Nick (Harrison, crew chief) gave me a great handling race car. It was a solid effort and we’ll continue to work towards getting into Victory Lane."

Austin Dillon Sweeps Charlotte Motor Speedway Earning Back-to-Back Victories

Austin Dillon and the No. 33 Rheem team earned the team’s fifth victory of the 2015 NASCAR XFINITY Series season Friday night at Charlotte Motor Speedway in the Drive for the Cure 300 presented by Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina. Dillon posted the fastest time in qualifying earlier in the day, earning his sixth pole award of the year with the Richard Childress Racing team. After the Welcome, N.C. driver took the initial green flag for the 200-lap affair, Dillon reported to the Danny Stockman-led team he was too tight and slipped from the lead on lap five. Relief came on lap 48 when the field was slowed for the first caution of the night. The Rheem pit crew serviced the No. 33 machine with four tires, fuel and a round of chassis adjustments to combat Dillon’s handling issues. Dillon restarted sixth and began his climb to the front of the field. He took over the race lead on lap 100. Continuing to battle a tight-handling condition, Dillon fell to the fourth position before visiting pit road again for another routine pit stop. After restarting third on lap 151, Dillon jumped to the inside and assumed the race lead for the third time of the night. Without looking back, the 25-year-old driver laid claim to the checkered flag, earning back-to-back pole awards and victories in his home state.

Start – 1 Finish – 1 Laps Led – 61 Owner’s Points – 4

AUSTIN DILLON QUOTE:

"It’s pretty cool to say we’ve swept both races at our home track. We didn’t start the race very strong. I told Danny (Stockman, crew chief) we were really tight and needed to make some adjustments. He made great calls and took big swings at it. Those guys made this Rheem Chevrolet fast. We pulled away there at the end, it was great. This is a special win for us not only as a team, but me personally. I know two people close to me that are battling breast cancer, and this win is for them. It’s an honor to be able to bring home this trophy for them. I hope it brings a few smiles when they’re having a rough day."

Strong Run Foiled by Tire issue for Brendan Gaughan at Charlotte Motor Speedway

Brendan Gaughan and the No. 62 South Point Hotel & Casino team earned a 15th-place finish in the Drive for the Cure 300 at Charlotte Motor Speedway after suffering a tire issue during the mid-point of the 300-mile event. The Las Vegas-native started the 200-lap race 15th and reported loose conditions through turns three and four during the opening laps. The evening’s first caution flag flew on lap 49. Gaughan brought his South Point Hotel & Casino Chevrolet to the attention of his crew for four tires, fuel and a chassis adjustment. A caution period on lap 99 allowed Gaughan to receive additional adjustments. The Richard Childress Racing driver restarted 13th and shortly thereafter reported a tire issue. Gaughan made the decision to bring his Chevrolet to pit road under green-flag conditions for service. Throughout the remaining laps of the race, the No. 62 team fought back to earn the lucky dog position, but did not get the much needed caution. Gaughan took the checkered flag in the 15th position and remains ninth in XFINITY Series Championship standings.

Start – 15 Finish – 15 Laps Led – 0 Driver Points – 9

BRENDAN GAUGHAN QUOTE:

"We fought loose early in the race, but Shane (Wilson, crew chief) and the boys worked hard all day and made strong adjustments. Unfortunately we tried to overcome an issue, but didn’t get the caution we needed to get back on the lead lap. I’m proud of these boys, we continue to fight and never give up.
