Brian Scott Drives No. 2 Jewel-Osco / Kraft Velvetta Chevrolet to 17th-place Finish

Brian Scott and the No. 2 Jewel-Osco / Kraft Velveeta Chevrolet team qualified for the Furious 7 300 in the 13th position on Saturday afternoon at Chicagoland Speedway. Scott took over the NASCAR XFINITY Series race lead on lap 26 after the team elected to take two right-side tires during their visit to pit road under caution. Scott led the field for the next four laps before settling into the seventh position battling a loose-handling Chevy. On lap 73, the Jewel-Osco / Kraft Velveeta machine came to pit road for their scheduled stop under green-flag conditions for four tires, fuel and a chassis adjustment. Battling loose-handling conditions and lack of rear grip, Scott was scored as high as first and as low as 13th as the Mike Hillman Jr.-led team battled to contend for the race win. In hopes of a caution before the end of the race, Scott and the No. 2 team stayed out during the lap-142 caution to regain track position, taking over the race lead once again for two laps. Unfortunately, the 200-lap event went green to the end of the race, forcing the Jewel-Osco / Kraft Velveeta Chevy to pit road one final time for fuel only. Scott and the No. 2 team went onto finish 17th one lap down at Chicagoland Speedway.

Start – 13 Finish – 17 Laps Led – 7 Points – 8

BRIAN SCOTT QUOTE:

"We did what we had to do to win. We aren’t racing for points, we are racing for wins. I would rather finish 17th racing for the win, then finish seventh. We’ll go get them at Kentucky."

Ty Dillon Records Eighth Top-Five Finish, Moves into Second Place in Point Standings

Ty Dillon drove Richard Childress Racing’s No. 3 Bass Pro Shops/TRACKER Boats Chevrolet Camaro to a fifth-place finish Saturday evening at Chicagoland Speedway, recording the team’s eighth top-five finish of the season. Dillon moved into sole possession of second place in the XFINITY Series driver championship point standings with seven races remaining. He qualified fourth earlier in the afternoon and started in the second row for just the fourth time this season. Dillon raced inside the top five for the first portion of the 200 lap race, but lost significant positioning after receiving a pit road speeding penalty on lap 71. A lap down, Dillon battled for the Lucky Dog position, which he was awarded during the lap 102 caution. From there, Dillon drove back to the front of the pack. He used the remaining 96 laps to go from 20th place all the way up to seventh place in the race’s final laps. Two competitors were forced to make a pit stop in the closing laps, allowing Dillon to move up to fifth place where he would take the checkered flag. Dillon gain two points on the XFINITY Series points leader and moved into sole possession of second place. Up next for the Series is Kentucky Speedway, where Dillon finished third a year ago.

Start – 4th Finish – 5th Laps Led – 0 Points – 2

TY DILLON QUOTE:

"Tonight was a great points night for us. Unfortunately, we had to play catch-up there in the middle of the race because of the mistake I made on pit road going a little too fast. Nick (Harrison, crew chief) and the guys stuck with it and gave me a great handling race car. I really was able to drive through the field there once we got back on the lead lap. We’ll look to Kentucky and keep chipping away at the points lead."

Paul Menard Finishes Fourth in His Final NASCAR XFINITY Series Race of 2015

Paul Menard started his final NASCAR XFINITY Series event of the 2015 season from the seventh spot and finished fourth after 200 laps of racing at Chicagoland Speedway. In the opening laps, Menard maintained a position in the top six and reported the Richmond/Menards Chevy was tight into the center and loose from center to exit of the corners. When the caution flag was displayed on lap 21, crew chief Danny Stockman opted to call Menard in for four tires and fuel with a plan to see how handling changed when the sun went down. The No. 33 Chevy team made improvements to the car on laps 72, 89, 133 and 144 for a combination of four tires, fuel, wedge and track bar adjustments with the final stop for fuel only. Menard never fell below 10th during the 300-mile event and crossed the finish line fourth. The Richard Childress Racing driver finished his 2015 XFINITY Series season Saturday with one win at Road America along with three top-five and six top-10 finishes.

Start – 7 Finish – 4 Laps Led – 0 Owners Points – 5

PAUL MENARD QUOTE:

"We were just a little bit off all weekend. Danny (Stockman, crew chief) and the guys did a great job tonight making adjustments. We definitely made improvements on the Richmond/Menards Chevy throughout the night. It’s been fun racing with these guys this year. They’re a really close team and I’m happy to be a part of it."

Brendan Gaughan Earns 10th-Place Finish in Chicago

Richard Childress Racing’s Brendan Gaughan finished 10th at Chicagoland Speedway on Saturday evening for the NASCAR XFINITY Series Furious 7 300. Gaughan started the 200-lap event from the 11th position and quickly reported he was too tight in the center of the corners. Crew chief Shane Wilson called the Las Vegas native to pit road on lap 21 during a caution period to bolt on four fresh tires, add fuel and make a chassis adjustment to combat Gaughan’s handling issue. When the field returned to green-flag conditions, the handling on the No. 62 South Point Hotel & Casino Chevrolet was worse and Gaughan slipped to the 16th spot. The Wilson-led team utilized four additional pit stops throughout the course of the race to make adjustments to the gold and black Chevrolet. The veteran driver was able to run as high as sixth but continued battling a temperamental machine as it switched from tight to loose with the changing track conditions. On the final restart of the night, Gaughan raced his way into the 10th position before taking the checkered flag.

Start – 11 Finish – 10 Laps Led – 0 Points – 9

BRENDAN GAUGHAN QUOTE:

"We had a decent car tonight. On the first pit stop we made the wrong adjustment and put ourselves behind a little bit, but Shane (Wilson, crew chief) and the boys really turned it around. They gave me a lot more grip, and I was able to battle back up in the top 10. I made a couple of mistakes there at the end, and it cost us a few spots. I’m really looking forward to next weekend at Kentucky Speedway. I think we’ll have a good chance at bringing home a win."
