Brendan Gaughan Finishes 16th in Drive for the Cure 300 at Charlotte Motor Speedway
Brendan Gaughan and the No. 62 South Point Hotel & Casino team qualified 14th for Friday night’s Drive for the Cure 300 presented by Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Gaughan reported he was battling a tight-handling Chevrolet on lap 14. The Shane Wilson-led team made a wedge adjustment during the first pit stop on lap 18 that improved the handling of the No. 62 machine. On lap 47 the Las Vegas-native broke into the top 10 and by lap 63 was up to third. A late-race pit stop restarted the Richard Childress Racing team in the 18th position on lap 190. The 39-year-old driver crossed the line 16th at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Gaughan and the No. 62 team are eighth in the driver point standings as the Series takes a two week hiatus and will return in November at Texas Motor Speedway.
