Race Highlights:

  • Austin Dillon finished second and was the highest finishing Richard Childress Racing driver in the Lakes Region 200 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Ty Dillon finished sixth, Brendan Gaughan 11th, and Brian Scott 29th.
  • Scott started fifth and was the highest qualifying NASCAR XFINITY Series driver in the RCR camp. A. Dillon qualified sixth, T. Dillon seventh and Brendan Gaughan 10th.

Brian Scott Finishes 29th at New Hampshire Motor Speedway

 

Brian Scott and the No. 2 Star Market/Kraft Velveeta Chevrolet qualified in the fifth position for the Lakes Region 200 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway marking his 12th top-five starting position this season. When the NASCAR XFINITY Series visited pit road for the first set of pit stops on lap 39, crew chief Mike Hillman Jr,. elected for an air pressure adjustment, two right-side tires and fuel to help with handling conditions. With 48 laps complete, the Richard Childress Racing driver was in the second position. Scott maintained the second running position through green-flag stops on lap 122. The No. 2 Star Market/Kraft Velveeta Chevy service stop included four tires, fuel and a track bar adjustment for the changing track conditions. The caution was displayed for debris on lap 140 which allowed Scott to visit pit road one final time. A four-tire stop restarted the team in the fifth position with 52 laps to go. With 35 laps to go, Scott encountered a mechanical issue that ended his day early, resulting in a 29th-place finish.

Ty Dillon Finishes Sixth at New Hampshire Motor Speedway

 

Ty Dillon drove Richard Childress Racing’s No. 3 Wrangler Workwear/UniFirst Chevrolet Camaro to a sixth-place finish Saturday afternoon at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, recording the team’s 11th top-10 finish of the season. Dillon qualified the No. 3 Chevrolet seventh earlier in the afternoon and managed to keep the No. 3 Camaro inside the top 10 for the entire 200-lap race. Crew chief Nick Harrison kept Dillon up front with several in-race adjustments for a loose-handling race car. Toward the end of the race, Dillon found himself in the seventh position, gained a position following the last restart on lap 174 and competed for a top five in the race’s closing laps. In the end, Dillon crossed the finish line sixth. The NASCAR XFINITY Series is scheduled to race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway next weekend where Dillon is the defending race winner.

Austin Dillon Earns Runner-Up Finish in Loudon

 

Austin Dillon and the No. 33 Rheem team finished second in the NASCAR XFINITY Series race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway on Saturday after leading laps and battling a loose Chevrolet. Dillon started the 200-lap event from the sixth position and missed a wreck in the early stages of the race, improving his track position to third for the ensuing restart on lap 30. The Welcome, N.C., native began to battle a tight-handling condition as long green-flag runs progressed through the afternoon, but remained a fixture within the top 10 of the running order. Crew chief Danny Stockman called Dillon to pit road under green-flag conditions for four tires, fuel and a chassis adjustment to combat his handling issues. The changes proved to be positive as Dillon drove to the lead on lap 175 and led the field for the next seven circuits around the Loudon, N.H.-based track. While racing for the lead on lap 182, Dillon was forced out of the racing groove and slipped to the fourth position. He was able to battle his way back to second before crossing the finish line in the Lakes Region 200. Saturday’s second-place result moves the No. 33 Rheem team to second in the owner’s championship point standings.

Brendan Gaughan Finishes 11th at New Hampshire Motor Speedway

 

Brendan Gaughan and the No. 62 South Point Hotel & Casino Chevrolet qualified 10th for the Lake Regions 200 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, the team’s 12th top-10 qualifying effort of the season. The Las Vegas native began experiencing loose-handling conditions early in the 200-lap event. On lap 38, Gaughan came to the attention of his Shane Wilson-led team. The Richard Childress Racing team elected to changed right-side tires, received a full tank of fuel and made a track bar adjustment. Gaughan restarted 11th on lap 43 and ran there for the majority of the day. Green flag pit stops put the No. 62 RCR Chevrolet a lap down, forcing them to race for the Lucky Dog position. On lap 166, Gaughan became the recipient for the Lucky Dog award and earned his spot back on the lead lap in the 11th position, where he would ultimately cross the finish line. Gaughan advances to eighth in the driver point standings, 10 points from seventh as the XFINITY Series heads to the historic Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
