Brian Scott Finishes 11th at Indianapolis Motor Speedway

Brian Scott and the No. 2 Shore Lodge Chevrolet qualified seventh at the prestigious Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the NASCAR XFINITY Series Lilly Diabetes 250. Early in the race, Scott reported his Chevrolet Camaro was tight in the center and loose off the corners. Fuel mileage and strategy are part of the path to victory at the famed 2.5-mile track. Scott made two visits to pit road during the opening 50 laps of the 100-lap event. Both stops were conducted under yellow conditions, one on lap 14 for right-side tires, and again on lap 27 for fuel only. On lap 63 during green-flag conditions, the Shore Lodge Chevrolet made a stop for four tires and enough fuel to make it to the checkered flag. Scott battled inside the top 15 for the majority of the day and crossed the finish line in the 11th position.

Brian Scott Quote:
"It was tough for me to get going on the restarts. We lost track position at the beginning of the race, and it was difficult to make that back later . We had a pretty decent finish at Iowa Speedway last time and I’m looking forward to going back next week."

Ty Dillon Finishes Ninth at Indianapolis Motor Speedway

Ty Dillon drove Richard Childress Racing’s No. 3 Bass Pro Shops/TRACKER Boats Chevrolet Camaro to a ninth-place finish Saturday afternoon at the historic Indianapolis Motor Speedway, recording the team’s 12th top-10 finish of the season. Dillon, who entered the weekend as the defending race winner, qualified ninth and raced inside the top 10 for a majority of the 100-lap event. Dillon assumed the lead on lap 27 under caution when crew chief Nick Harrison elected to stay out. Dillon led a total of eight laps before coming to pit road under green-flag conditions, hoping pit strategy would pay off. A long green-flag stretch allowed Dillon to race back into the top 10, despite battling a tight-handling race car. After the race’s final pit stop on lap 75, Dillon drove from 17th-place all the way up to ninth crossing the finish line in that position. He remains third in the NASCAR XFINITY Series driver point standings.

TY DILLON QUOTE:
"We gambled with some pit strategy and made the right adjustments all afternoon. Overall today was a good points day as we gained on both the 60 and the 9 car. Our Bass Pro Chevy there at the end was really fast and I was able to drive up through the field with 25 laps to go. I’m looking forward to Iowa next weekend."

Paul Menard Leads Laps and Finishes Fourth at Indianapolis Motor Speedway

Paul Menard started Saturday’s 100-lap NASCAR XFNITY Series event at the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway from the fourth spot and led laps early en route to a fourth-place finish. Menard reported the car was loose-in and tight-off the corner on lap four, but maintained his position within the top five. The Danny Stockman-led team made the decision to skip pit road when the caution was displayed on lap 12, putting Menard in second for the restart. The Eau Claire, Wisconsin native battled the No. 54 car and took the lead on lap 17 for nine laps of competition. On lap 22, the caution flag was displayed allowing Stockman to call Menard down pit road on lap 27 for four tires, fuel and a wedge adjustment. Menard restarted 19th on lap 30 and raced his way back into the top five by lap 38. When the checkered flag waved 62 laps later, Menard crossed the finish line fourth.

Start – 5            Finish – 4             Laps Led – 9              Owners Points – 2

PAUL MENARD QUOTE:
"We had an awesome car today. It was fast at the beginning of the race then we made an adjustment that got it out of the track, so we lost some momentum. I’m proud of my boys for bringing a fast Richmond/Menards Chevy this weekend. We’ll get them in Watkins Glen when I race in this Series again."

Brendan Gaughan Finishes 14th at New Hampshire Motor Speedway

Brendan Gaughan qualified the No. 62 South Point Hotel & Casino Chevrolet in the fourth position for Saturday’s Lilly Diabetes 250 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. This marked Gaughan’s 13th top-10 starting position of the season. The Las Vegas-native began reporting tight-handling conditions with his Camaro on lap four. The Shane Wilson-led team visited pit road during the first caution on lap 14 for right-side tires, fuel and a chassis adjustment, restarting Gaughan in fifth. During a 40 lap green-flag run, the team began using pit strategy and came to pit road for four tires, fuel and track bar adjustment, putting them off sequence from a majority of the competitors. The pit stop put the team back on track in the 30th position as Gaughan used the remainder of the event to race through the field. When the checkered flag waved on lap 100, the 40-year-old driver had advanced his position to 14th. Gaughan remains eighth in the NASCAR XFINITY Series driver point standings as the Series returns to Iowa Speedway next weekend.

BRENDAN GAUGHAN QUOTE:

"We had one fast Chevrolet today at Indy, but our pit strategy unfortunately did not play out like we had hoped. Like always, my South Point team worked hard and gave it all they had. We just didn’t catch the breaks on track that we needed."
