Gaughan Likes Chicagoland; Will Have Fun in Dirt Before Hitting Pavement

  |   News

Mooresville, N.C. (Sep. 14, 2011) – Chicagoland Speedway is one of several 1.5-mile oval tracks on the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series schedule. In the opinion of No. 62 South Point Hotel & Casino Tundra driver Brendan Gaughan, the Joliet , IL , track is one of the easiest to learn and produces some very exciting racing. Gaughan will make his first Truck Series start in Friday’s 150 lap/225 mile race, but he’s been to Chicagoland in two other NASCAR Series.

“As far as mile and a half corners go, Chicagoland is one of the easiest to drive because both corners are increasing radius corners. It’s basically a ‘double D’ formation. It’s really unique as far as the oval courses go because of that. It allows you to stay two and three wide longer in the corner – where normally toward the exit of the corner most tracks tighten up. It’s a fun place to race and I’m looking forward to seeing what our South Point Hotel & Casino Tundra will do there on Friday night,” said Gaughan.

In addition to racing in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Chicagoland Speedway on Friday night, Brendan Gaughan will debut the new Douglas Motorsports PRO 2WD truck at the Chicagoland TRAXXAS TORC Series. The event takes place on Wednesday and Thursday nights. Gaughan will sport an ‘old-school’ Walker Evans/South Point paint scheme.

Crew chief Bryan Berry and the No. 62 team of Germain Racing have prepared chassis GR-016 to be the South Point Hotel & Casino Tundra at Chicagoland Speedway. The truck raced last in Atlanta and has competed in several other events for Germain Racing this season.
